Online Master of Public Health

Online Learning

The UW Online MPH is a primarily online program. With the exception of three on-site sessions, classes are conducted online, giving you the flexibility to do your coursework largely on your own schedule and at your own location.

How Online Learning Works

From your computer, you'll connect to a robust online learning management system called Canvas. This web-based software allows you to interact with your instructors and the rest of your cohort in a virtual classroom. You're required to attend class virtually at specific times each week. You can access course materials, including recorded lectures, and interact with faculty and fellow classmates in online forums at any time.

As in a classroom course, you'll start and finish each online course with the rest of your cohort. All students have the same deadlines, and you'll need to keep up with all lectures, readings and other assignments.

Technology Requirements

  • Computer able to run a recent version of a major web browser, such as Chrome, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Firefox or Safari
  • Reliable high-speed Internet connection (broadband recommended)
